CHP Niğde Deputy Gürer Announced the Support Not Given to Farmers in the 2027 Budget: 877 Billion Liras Missing
CHP Niğde Deputy and TBMM Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Affairs Committee Member Ömer Fethi Gürer stated that the support allocated to farmers in the 2027 budget is insufficient, noting that against the 1 trillion 112 billion liras support that should be given to the farmer according to Article 21 of the Agriculture Law, only 235 billion liras were allocated, leaving 877 billion liras missing.

Evaluating the 2027 budget in the General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM), Ömer Fethi Gürer stated that farmers are facing severe problems due to their increasing debt burden, rising input costs, and the failure of their products to find their true value.
“THE SUPPORT THAT NEEDS TO BE GIVEN TO THE FARMER IS NOT BEING GIVEN”
Stating that the 2027 budget is far from producing solutions to farmers' problems, Gürer said, “The 2027 budget has come to the Plan and Budget Committee. We looked at the support that needs to be allocated to our farmers here, and once again, the support that should be given to the farmer is not being given.”
Reminding of Article 21 of the Agriculture Law, Gürer drew attention to the huge gap between the support that should be given to the farmer and the resources allocated in the budget, expressing: “While the support that should be given to the farmer should be 1 trillion 112 billion liras according to Article 21 of the Agriculture Law, the allocated support is 235 billion liras, and the amount of support not given is 877 billion liras.”
BUDGET OF THE MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE AND FORESTRY IS 760 BILLION TL
CHP Niğde Deputy Ömer Fethi Gürer noted that the total budget of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has been set at 760 billion liras, pointing out that the support to be given to the farmer remains far below the level stipulated in the legal regulation, and stated: “This budgetary approach is not enough to alleviate the economic hardships experienced by producers. Regulations that prioritize the farmer are needed in the budget to ease the debt burden of farmers and ensure the sustainability of production.”
FARMERS' DEBT TO BANKS IS 1 TRILLION 511 BILLION TL
Gürer stated, “In this case, it is seen that the debt burden farmers are in has not been lifted. Farmers owe 1 trillion 511 billion liras to banks. Most of them are facing enforcement proceedings, the products they produce are not finding their value, and input costs are increasing.”
