Kadıköy Mayor Mesut Kösedağı Changed His Party
Kadıköy Mayor Mesut Kösedağı announced that he left the CHP and joined the New Party, led by Özgür Özel. It was stated that along with Kösedağı, 30 out of 36 municipal council members also changed parties.

A development that could affect the political balance took place in Kadıköy, Istanbul.
Kadıköy Mayor Mesut Kösedağı announced in a video shared on his social media account that he has resigned from the CHP and joined the New Party.
Stating that he has been a CHP member for approximately 23 years, Kösedağı reminded that he was referred to the disciplinary board last month with a demand for his permanent expulsion. Expressing that he evaluated his decision by consulting with citizens during this process, Kösedağı announced that he will continue his political path in the New Party, led by Özgür Özel.
This development in Kadıköy, which is shown among the districts where the CHP is strong, drew attention as the first district municipality in Istanbul to switch to the New Party.
On the other hand, following the Central Executive Board meeting held on September 30, the CHP had initiated expulsion procedures against the mayors of Kadıköy, Sancaktepe, and Sarıyer, as well as Konyaaltı and Alanya in Antalya. The reason cited for the decision was that the mayors in question attended the New Party congress.
