Gürlek: 3 Unsolved Murders Solved
Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek announced that there have been important developments regarding 3 long-unsolved murders committed in past years in İzmir, Mersin, and Osmaniye, and that legal actions have been taken against suspects within the scope of the investigations.

Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek announced that significant progress has been made in 3 files dating back 10 to 21 years.
Gürlek stated that to date, the perpetrators of 71 murders across 64 files have been identified, resolving cases previously classified as unsolved.
Regarding the file of Muharreme Oral, who has been missing in İzmir since 2005, secret witness statements claiming she was murdered by family members and the suspects' communication records were evaluated together.
Following the allegation that Oral's body was thrown into a well, 5 suspects were detained in an operation on October 19. It was reported that efforts using underground imaging and scanning devices are ongoing to reach Oral's lifeless body.
The case file of Furkan Coşkun, who went missing after being abducted in Mersin on October 9, 2016, was also re-examined.
As a result of the evaluation of witness statements and communication records, connections were established between certain witnesses and suspects. In this context, legal action was initiated against 9 suspects on October 20. While 7 of the suspects were detained, it was noted that 2 were already in a penal institution. It was recorded that the investigation to uncover Coşkun's fate is ongoing.
In the investigation regarding Mehmet Çabuk, who went missing in Osmaniye in 2016, efforts were intensified following new statements.
It was reported that a suspect currently in prison confessed to killing Çabuk on January 27, 2016, and burying him in the courtyard of a house. During the excavation carried out upon the suspect's point-out, bone fragments were found approximately 4 meters beneath the concrete floor.
While examinations of the remains sent to the Forensic Medicine Institution for identification and determination of the exact cause of death continue, it was announced that 2 suspects were arrested and judicial control measures were imposed on 1 suspect within the scope of the investigation.
Minister Gürlek emphasized that new evidence, technical examinations, and statements that emerged years later play a crucial role in shedding light on unsolved files.
Stating that the investigations will be carried out meticulously, Gürlek expressed that work will continue to uncover the truth and ensure justice, while thanking the chief public prosecutor's offices, law enforcement units, and public officials who took part in the investigations.
