Attack on 7 commercial ships in the Black Sea: Security concern in NATO
Drone attacks on at least 7 commercial vessels in the Black Sea have sparked security concerns in Romania and Bulgaria. NATO is monitoring developments in the region.

Attacks on maritime transport in the Black Sea have heightened concerns that the effects of the Russia-Ukraine war could spread to the region. Following a fire aboard a tanker named Wine Trader off the coast of Romania on October 15, five sailors were rescued, while seven others remain unaccounted for.
Along with other vessel incidents in the region, it was reported that the number of commercial ships attacked in October has reached at least seven.
While the Romanian and Bulgarian administrations have stepped up contacts with NATO, investigations into the responsibility for the attacks are ongoing. Although some officials point to Russia, the source of all attacks has not been independently verified.
