Ankara-Kayseri Journey to Drop to 1 Hour 45 Minutes! Critical Milestone in High-Speed Train
Physical progress on the Yerköy-Kayseri High-Speed Train (YHT) project has exceeded 50%. Travel time between Ankara and Kayseri is dropping to 1 hour 45 minutes.

Work continues on the Yerköy-Kayseri High-Speed Train (YHT) Line, one of the major projects that will strengthen Turkey's transportation infrastructure. With the completion of the project, the rail travel time between Ankara and Kayseri is targeted to drop to 1 hour and 45 minutes.
More Than Half of the Project Completed
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced in a statement on October 18 that physical progress on the Yerköy-Kayseri YHT Project has exceeded 50 percent.
The 142-kilometer-long line is being built as a double-track, electrified, and signaled system suitable for speeds of 250 kilometers per hour.
Ankara-Kayseri Journey to Drop from 7 Hours to 1 Hour 45 Minutes
Starting from Yozgat's Yerköy district and reaching Kayseri, the new line will be integrated into the existing Ankara-Sivas High-Speed Train Line.
Thanks to this connection, Kayseri will be included in Turkey's high-speed train network. The Ankara-Kayseri journey, which takes approximately 7 hours via current rail transport, is planned to be reduced to 1 hour and 45 minutes once the project is completed.
Targeting 5.5 Million Passengers Annually
The new railway line is expected to make a significant contribution not only to passenger transportation but also to freight transport.
Within the scope of the project, an annual capacity of 5.5 million passengers and 13.5 million tons of freight is projected.
With the commissioning of the line, it is aimed to reduce logistics costs in the region and strengthen intercity commercial connections.
Tunnel and Bridge Construction Continues
Within the scope of the project, the construction of 25 underpasses, 91 culverts, and one overpass has been completed. Construction work on other tunnels, bridges, and crossings is ongoing.
The line, which will reach Kayseri via Yerköy, Şefaatli, Yenifakılı, and Himmetdede, is expected to significantly improve the transportation facilities of the Central Anatolia Region.
The exact date when the line will be put into service was not specified in the latest statement.
